Crom & Doobie remettent ça : après l’extrêmement populaire « Park Life EP » sur OFF002, voici plus qu’une intéressante suite à l’épisode.
Le titre phare de l’EP « Ebony » est une bombe House Tribale, il entre directement dans le sujet avec suffisamment de puissance pour doter le dancefloor entier de tickets express pour l’Afrique.
Aux grooves phénoménaux sont ajoutés des éléments durs, parties vocales Zoulous et accents de trompettes qui déclarent la chasse d’animaux sauvages sur le dancefloor officiellement ouverte.
L’homme du moment Ray Okpara, qui fait déjà exploser les dancefloors avec son récent « Brothers EP » sorti sur Oslo, délivre un grand remix du track principal. Travaillant la magie avec sa marque de fabrique, un son deep et punchy ou il réduit l’original à son essence, un pied puissant et une ligne de basse, tout en nappant le tout de parties vocales ainsi que d’un arrangement hypnotique de percussions à construction lente.
Dernier morceau, mais définitivement pas le pire, « Foxxy » n’a pas pas choisi le nom du personnage de Beyonce dans l’une des aventures d’Austin Powers par hasard. Un « gros » groove deephouse, des ornements swing, des parties vocales irrésistiblement sexy et ces accords d’orgue des sixties combinés avec l’énorme break et les parties de guitare envoient tous ces agents secrets et leurs playmates sur une mission pour explorer le dancefloor et leurs partenaires… Groovy baby !

The EP’s title track “Ebony” is a full-on tribal house burner, straight forward and with enough drive to give your whole dancefloor an express ticket to Africa. The strong groove is topped with sizzling rough tops, zulu vocals and trumpet stabs that declare the hunt for wild animals on the dancefloor as officially opened.
Man of the moment Ray Okpara, which is already rocking the floors with his recent “Brothers EP” on Oslo, delivers a great remix of Ebony. Working magic with his trademark deep and pushing bass-heavy sound, he strips down the original to it’s essence, a strong kick and bassline, while topping it with a slowly building hypnotic arrangement of percussion, tops and vocals.
Last but definitely not least comes “Foxxy”, which is not coincidentally named after Beyonce’s sexy character in one of Austin Powers adventures. A fat deephouse groove, swinging tops, irresistibly sexy vocals and those 60ies-organ stabs with a huge break and a strong guitar hook will send all special agents and their playmates on a mission to investigate the dancefloor and each other… shagadelic baby !
