Arno Gonzalez partage depuis longtemps sa passion pour la musique électronique à travers le monde. Il s’est aventuré un peu partout en Europe et a même fait des apparitions en Russie et Turquie. Certaines de ses productions ont marqué les esprits (on pense tout particulièrement à son track My Link To The Past) et ont reçu les éloges des plus grands (Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Funk’D Void, Chloé…). Cela fait maintenant 13 ans qu’il a commencé à produire et a signé une multitude de morceaux sur des labels comme Missive, Timid, Fine Art, Eternithouse, Ftw ou encore Sidechain. En octobre dernier, il a sorti son premier album intitulé Encounters sur Timid Records avec des collaborations de TEPR, Jonas Sella, Tomas Sari, Elysse et George Guelters. Aujourd’hui, l’artiste angevin nous propose un « revival » de son set à l’Apéro In Silencio lors de l’édition hivernale d’Astropolis. Pour vous mettre dans le bain, imaginez une salle d’expo très grande, underground mais propre et dans laquelle il était nécéssaire d’avoir un casque pour écouter l’un des sets proposés.

Since a while ago, Arno Gonzalez has been sharing his passion for electronic music all around the world. He ventured a bit everywhere all around Europe, with appearances in Russia and Turkey. Some of his tracks stayed printed in our memories such as My Link To The Past, which received support from huge names like Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Funk’D Void, Chloé…). He started producing 13 years ago and signed on prestigious labels such as Missive, Timid, Fine Art, Eternithouse, Ftw and Sidechain. He also recently released his first album  » Encounters » on Timid Records, including collaborations with TEPR, Jonas Sella, Thomas Sari, Elysse and Georges Guelters. But today, the master from Angers comes back with a re-interpretation of his set at Astropolis festival silent disco gig « Apero In Silencio ». If you did not have the chance to enjoy this session, just imagine a huge art showroom , neat but raw enough, where everyone could release their minds tripping around the silent walls and structures, enjoying the finest dj set through their interconnected headphones.

Né en France, Marcus Vector se lance dans le vaste monde de la musique électronique à 19 ans. Sous le nom de Celophane, il ouvre les soirées des tournées Warp et Rephlex Records. En 2004 il rencontre Sierra Sam et se met à produire une techno orientée dancefloor tout en gardant les influences expérimentales des deux labels qui l’ont lancé. Peu de temps après le début de sa rencontre et sa collaboration avec Sierra Sam, ils créent le label Toys For Boys. C’est depuis cette époque qu’ils comptent à leur actif des sorties sur des labels respectés tels que Supplement Facts, TuningSpork, Contexterrior, Dirt Crew et Time Has Changed. Si leurs morceaux ont fait des émules parmi les plus grands noms, leur projet house DiY (Dumb Irresponsible Youth) n’as pas fait choux blanc. Ne s’arrêtant pas là, Marcus lancera prochainement un nouveau projet intitulé Fellowship Of The Funk en collaboration avec Metrobox (We Play House). Ils préparent un live analogique et pour avoir écouté le premier EP, la sortie devrait faire un ramdam !

Born in France, Marcus Vector started in the wide world of electronic music when he turned 19. He began by doing warm-ups for Warp and Rephlex label nights under the alias Celophane. His meeting with Sierra Sam in 2004 led him to produce a very special type of techno with a clear dancefloor purpose, but still keeping experimental influences from both labels he collaborated with at the start of his career. From this collaboration was also created the label Toys For Boys. Since then, they both scored big releases on respected labels such as Supplement Facts, TuningSpork, Contexterrior, Dirt Crew and Time Has Changed. But they did not stop there, keeping up the innovation with their project DiY (Dumb Irresponsible Youth) meeting a broad positive feedback, before the newest project coming up from Marcus collaborating with Metrobox (We Play House). The pair is currently preparing a full analog live set. We had a listen to the first EP, and we can ensure you that this release will be out with a bang!

Romain et Fabien Gauvrit mixent depuis maintenant plus de 10 ans sous le nom de Beef n’Weasel. Ils commencent par jouer Hip Hop au sein de leur collectif Freshdope ainsi que dans une émission qu’ils animaient à l’antenne de la radio nantaise Prun. Après avoir participé aux compétitions DMC, ils décrochent des dates prestigieuses telles que deux premières parties du mythique Wu Tang Clan.

Surpris par une scène électronique en perpétuel mouvement, les deux frérots s’attaquent à la musique électronique il y a environ 6 ans.

Vous avez déjà pu les voir dans des lieux tels que Le Lieu Unique ou encore Les Caves du Castel où vous pourrez d’ailleurs les retrouver lors d’afters des Studio Fragil de notre cher Raphaël ainsi que le 4 février en compagnie de Mlle Caro et Jankola dans le cadre d’une soirée Visite/Visite.

It has now been ten years that Romain and Fabien Gauvrit aka Beef’n’Weasel started mixing. Their first appearance was on the radio where they started playing Hip Hop with their quite famous collective Freshdope, alongside holding their own radio show on Radio Prun’ in Nantes. After participating to the DMC contests, they enjoyed playing a few prestigious shows, such as the opening act during legendary Wu Tang Clan’s tour.

It was 6 years ago that they happened to be impressed by the electronic music scene and its perpetual evolution and decided to get involved for the pleasure of our curious minds.

If you haven’t already seen them in several places such as Le Lieu Unique or Les Caves du Castel, well you still have the chance to catch their vibe during Studio Fragil’s after parties organized by our dearest Raphael, but also on the 4th of February alongside Mlle Caro and Jankola for a Visite/Visite party.

Après le set de notre ami angevin Beaujean, on continue de parler de relève avec un artiste Bèlge, Issa Maïga. La vingtaine tout juste atteinte, on peut dire qu’il en a vu passer des têtes. Résident des soirées Lessïzmore au Fuse ainsi qu’aux soirées Minimhouse de Liège, ses preuves sont de moins en moins à faire. Chose appuyée par le set dont il nous fait part, une atmosphère mélodieuse et des rythmiques chiadées nous tordent l’esprit entre l’envie de pousser les sub et celle de s’engouffrer au fond de son fauteuil. On remarque également une grande variété dans la playlist qui se rend invisible à l’écoute, un 105 ème podcast réussit !

After presenting the dj set of our friend Beaujean, here we carry on with fresh talents introducing the young Issa Maïga from Belgium. He just turned 20 but has already seen many famous faces as a resident of the Lessïzmore parties at Fuse, and minimhouse nights in Liege, meaning that he doesn’t need much to prove his talents anymore. This feeling is increased by the texture of his set, the harmonic atmosphere and crooked rhythmic parts twist our minds and bring the need to increase the sub frequencies and dig ourselves down into the couch. There’s also a great and variety to notice in terms of playlist, making this a well achieved 105th podcast.

Skence est un artiste nantais que l’on a découvert avec son excellent album Hip-Pop basé sur des sons de variété française des années 60 qu’il offrait en téléchargement sur bandcamp. Maxence de Butler alias Skence est un producteur de musique électronique et de Hip Hop. Ses productions se sont aventurées sur quelques netlabels et il a fait des BO pour des documentaires de National Geographic Channel. Son style se définit aux frontières de l’abstract, du jazz, du hip hop et de l’IDM, tout en passant par des sons de cordes et de « surf guitare ». Il allie des percussions brésiliennes et africaines à des beats Hip Hop smooth aux basses profondes et aux synthés analogiques ou 8-bit. Son live vous fera voyager vers toutes les destinations en empruntant des samples dans la variété asiatique, américaine 60′s en passant par Bollywood.

Skence is an artist from our beloved city of Nantes we had the pleasure to discover recently. The first pieces of his art we discovered in the first place were from his great Hip-Pop album based on sounds from the 60s, available on bandcamp for free. Maxence de Butler aka Skence is an Electronic and Hip Hop music producer, showing influences between abstract, jazz, Hip Hop and IDM, as well as a few twists of chords and “surf guitar”. You can find his productions on few netlabels and on National Geographic Channel documentaries. He blends Brazilian and African percussions to smooth Hip Hop beats and deep basses with talent, without forgetting a few analog synthesizers or 8 bit sonorities. His live set will make you travel through many destinations, with samples from Asian popular music, American 60’s or Bollywood.

En plus d’être un ami de longue date connu par notre cher Jonas Sella (son frère d’armes), Antoine Beaujean est en quelque sorte la relève de la scène techno angevine. Après avoir partagé les platines avec toute l’écurie de Timid Records et plus particulièrement avec Arno Gonzalez lors des soirées Modern, Beaujean a aussi joué aux côtés d’artistes de renom tels que Jerome Pacman, Agoria, Morpheus et dernièrement avec le grand Jeff Mills. C’est en véritable teufeur acharné qu’il s’est lancé dans le mix et ses prestations sont toujours un grand remue ménage. Son amour du dancefloor et de l’esprit rave se ressent dans la richesse et la vivacité de ses salades musicales. Alors mangez en !

As a long time friend of our dear Jonas Sella (his brother in arms), Antoine Beaujean is the newest guard of the techno scene from Angers. After spending many nights behind the decks with the whole Timid Records crew and especially Arno Gonzales during the Modern parties, Beaujean also played alongside top artists such as Jerome Pacman, Agoria, Morpheus and more lately the great Jeff Mills. He started djaying as an intense party person, making every single of his appearance a wonderful mayhem, for the love of the dancefloor and the true spirit of rave. All this energy can be felt in the vivacity of is musical salad bowls. Eat Some!

Le samedi 5 novembre se déroulait à Nantes une soirée dantesque dont le line up avait été composé par notre cher ami Raphaël. Dans un loft magnifique, Pepperpot, Lerosa, Clayton Guifford et Gerd nous faisaient voyager au son de douces et entrainantes mélopées assurément funk, house, disco, acid et techno. Pour vous remettre dans le contexte, Grégory Lambert alias Pepperpot nous a offert l’enregistrement de son set, souvenir d’un warm up parfaitement orchestré. S’il mixe depuis prêt de 20 ans, voici la preuve que ce cher Pepperpot ne s’est pas essoufflé au fil des années ! Après ses résidences pour El.ue, à l’Enfer et au Batofar, il sévit sur les nuits parisiennes au Rex Club avec ses fameuses soirées Hello depuis presque 3 ans. Il lancera d’ailleurs prochainement son label Hello Music et vient tout juste de rejoindre la famille Harry Klein de Munich aux côtés de la belle Ana.

Flashback : on the fifth of november a huge party took place with an incredible line-up set by our lovely mate Raphaël. Into a beautiful loft, Pepperpot, Lerosa, Clayton Guifford and Gerd shared the vibe accross stunning moods of funk, house, disco, acid and techno sounds. Through this really charming roster Pepperpot gives us the pleasure to listen again to his performance on that night. Pepperpot, also known as Gregory Lambert, warmed-up the crowd, standing as usual as one of those pioneers of the electronic influences in France for more than 20 years. Previously resident DJ at El.ue, Enfer Club and the famous Batofar spot, he is nowadays at the controls of the Rex Club with the great Hello parties since near 3 years. A forthcoming Hello Music label will be highlighted soon whereas he just arrives into the Harry Klein family from Munich, alongside the beautiful Ana.
