Ainsi l’aurait vous compris, Tilman est plein de projets, d’idées, de culture et d’un savoir faire inné que l’on retrouve aisément dans ce set !

En effet pour ce dernier épisode, l’allemand développe une house légère, allant dans la deep, et le sensuel, comme le montre cette intro très sexy avec un vocal digne d’un Presley ! Passant sur des notes entraînantes et alléchantes tout en gardant ces voix qui charment le micro, le mix nous hypnotise dès le début, avec ce déploiement des claps et des basses gourmandes, sans oublier les synthés côtoyant parfois un piano sur un groove cool jazz, ou même sur des défoulements de drums. Mais le set ne réside pas que dans ce style house en délicatesse, Tilman arrive à imposer un break, où l’on se perd dans des mélodies profondes toujours en sensualité, toujours avec une beauté mais une certaine folie. Au final on varie entre groove progressif, house pleine de charmes, disco house assez délirante et un rythme posé. Ce podcast est un véritable florilège de genres et de voix, a écouter en before comme en after, quand tu veux, même dans ton pieu, the funky groove is inside me, inside you, inside your love, just me and you !

It is clear that there is a smell of fresh news coming from our german buddy Tilman Schwarz! His great label Klamauk owned with Karsten Brommenschenkel and Michael Fluhr will release soon enough a various compilation including one of his tracks, on the side of an EP on label Two circles with remixes from Keinzweiter, Solid-m & Jack Deniel’s and Ass of Bass (Pit Spector & Grifin). He is also into a new project called Cellule Eat, with Grifin and Pit Spector, their first EP was released in June on label Minibar and we can tell you that their live is heavy!

This overview can help you notice that Tilman is full of projects, ideas, culture and natural skills that you will discover in this set.

In effect, our talented fellow develops in this podcast episode some type of light house, from deep and sensual vibes like this introduction carrying some amazing Presley-like vocals, towards catchy and delightful harmonies still keeping these vocals that charm the microphone. Pour le quatrième EP de Pampa Records, label de Dj Koze et Marcus Fink, c’est Axel Boman qui s’est chargé de nous régaler. Le suédois nous offre un maxi composé de trois morceaux variés d’une fraicheur incroyable. On pourrait presque croire à du Dj Koze lorsqu’on écoute Holy Love, superbe morceau d’ouverture réalisé avec le vocaliste J Jonason. On continue la balade avec Purple Drank et là, on tombe sur le cul ! Ce track est parfait, ça sonne, ça groove, c’est sensuel, deep et sexy à souhait et ça ne s’arrête pas là puisque l’on continue avec Not So Much, track parfait pour clôturer un set après une belle soirée.

For the fourth EP from Pampa Records (Dj Koze and Marcus Fink’s label) Axel Boman, got on the duty of entertaining us. The Swedish producer offers us a release composed by three unique tracks of incredible freshness. One could almost believe in a Dj Koze track when listening to Holy Love, a superb opening track performed with vocalist J Jonason. We continue the trip with Purple Drank which is the moment when you fall on your ass! This track is perfect, it sounds, it grooves, it’s sensual, deep and incredibly sexy and it does not stop there as we continue with Not So Much, perfect track to close a set after a nice party.

Entre house flottante, et jazz plus que cool, débute un set riche en couleurs sombres lors de cette intro fantastique, mystique, et intrigante… Puis le ton est donné, ici c’est la contrée de la musique en tout genre, non celle qui part dans tous les sens, mais celle qui vous offre un voyage en douceur, avec la beauté fanée des nuits nostalgiques, puis la reprise, oui celle qui vous dirige vers les clubs, la où les basses résonnent, les trompettes se mélangent au synthé, et tout y prend un sens, on veut danser, ne faire qu’un avec la richesse des sonorités. Deep jazz, drums jouant avec les cris, le saxo, la base musicale d’un flot d’émotions, nos pieds suivent les impros qui nous semblent en loop.

Plus le set avance, et plus l’évolution et la construction est remarquable, on a l’impression de ne se rappeler que du son que l’on écoute, pourtant l’intro était bonne, et ce titre là à 20 min. On en oublie la notion même du début et de la fin. Jazz du futur, house à l’ancienne, funk en écho, groove alléchant, la recette du podcast qui nous fait vibrer, ce duo nous tient en haleine même avec ce pti passage magique à 35 min, cassure qui appelle à une fin en apothéose, loin des tracks transpirants, mais plus dans l’élégance, et la finesse d’une basse coquine, qui nous caresse le corps, et la résonance d’une mélodie sans fin… Et pourtant ce trip finira sur des notes plus electronica, voir expérimentales, là où les petits bruits se transforment en couleurs, et paysages orientaux, chauds, et mystiques, féeriques, sans écarter cette essence jazz qui serait cette chaleur interne, cette part de nostalgie qui nous anime, qu’importe le lieu, un set intime, et sans modération.

Between floating house and jazz cooler than jazz itself starts a set full of dark colors during this fantastic and mystical introduction… Then the real things get started, here is a country of music of all kinds, not the one that goes everywhere, but the one that provides you a sweet journey, with the taste of nostalgic nights from the old days. Then comes the drop, the one that drags you down into the club, where basses resonate, where trumpets melt to the synthesizer and everything starts making sense, we want to dance, to be blended with the richness of those sonorities. Deep jazz, drums playing around with shouts, saxophone, all of this form the musical base of a flow of emotions, our feet follow the freestyles that seem looped.

The further the set goes the more incredible becomes the evolutions and constructions, making you feel stuck in the musical moment forgetting what you heard before, although the intro was great, this track goes on for 20 minutes. We even forget about the idea of beginning and end. Futur jazz, old school house, echoed funk, tasty grooves… is the recipe for a vibrant podcast. This duo keep us pressurized with this other drop at 35 minutes, break up that calls for a delightful ending, far from the sweaty tracks to build on the elegance and thinness of a naughty and skin-vibrating bass. But then this trip will end on electronica tones, where a few noises transform into colors and oriental landscapes, hot and mystical without forgetting this jazz substance. Any place you would listen to it, it’s an intimate set without boundaries.

Avec plus de 40 morceaux sortis et plus d’une douzaine d’EP vinyl à son nom, Frivolous peut maintenant se vanter d’avoir fait le tour du monde et joué dans toutes sortes de lieux et festivals sur sa route. Ses live sets sont réputés pour leurs énergie, originalité et ingéniosité, et l’ont conduit à partager la scène avec certains des plus grands.

Some might already know it, Daniel Gardner well known under the name of Frivolous is one of Input Selector’s most favourites artists. Born and raised on a farm in isolated rural Canada, disassembling appliances and building strange gadgets where the only past-times that garnered young Gardner’s full attention until one semester a mysterious new course emerged into his stale and traditional school curriculum; Electronic Music Composition.

Now with more than 40 releases and over a dozen 12″s to his name, Frivolous has toured the globe playing an eclectic array of venues and festivals along the way. His live shows have been hailed for their energy, originality and ingenuity as he’s taken the stage next to some of the most respected names in the business.

To end up this news we are very happy to announce you the release of Frivolous’s Candle-Light Ave on Klamauk next EP (label of one of our very expected forthcoming podcasts’ artist Tilman as well). But there is also an album to be expected as Daniel announced that 8 tracks were already made for it. As we enjoyed listening a preview for two of them, we can tell you that we are getting extremely excited for this release.

A creative journey, Restless… Born In Bremen, Northern Germany, Nils is always looking for new challenges. He started a small career of party promoter and dj in bars, focusing on techno and 50s/60s rhythm and blues, before becoming a pretty well known logo, cover and website designer for labels such as Moodmusic or Get Physical. He started producing with his mate John Murder for label Moodmusic who released his first ep in october 2008. Beside working on new productions, the two lads prepared a live set rewarded by a successful premiere at the mythical Panorama Bar in Berlin, alongside big artists such as Sasse, Ewan Pearson and Dirt Crew. After a full length album released in 2010 on Moodmusic, Nils started his own imprint called Wazi Wazi with Sasse in order to release his solo productions made of sweet contemporary deep house music with an oldschool soulish flavour. To be continued…

Mixant régulierement aux cotés de Dane « Gretzky » Mac Donald, ils peuvent se vanter de choix de programmation intelligents ainsi que de foules toujours assurées de passer des grandes soirées. Ils sont à eux deux devenus synonymes de bonne ambiance et de bon son. Ces qualités sont à remarquer dans leurs label Danksoul Recordings qu’ils gerent en compagnie de Ryan Trann.
Ce dernier est à l’origine du morceau inaugural du label, « Kneesocks » sorti sous le nom « Inkwell ». Cet ep s’est vu gratifiée de très bonnes revues depuis sa sortie fin 2009.
Définitivement deux noms en provenance du grand nord à conserver à l’esprit cet été.

Deep grooves from cold climes? That nicely sums up Bron (Bryan Wells). Weaned on a diet of hip hop from masters like Pete Rock and Kut Master Kurt through his teens, Wells truly fell under the spell of club music after catching house legend Danny Tenaglia perform one of his legendary marathon sets in 1999. Bron’s been DJing ever since, producing for the last six, and remains committed to exploring the quirky underbelly of the electronic underworld. Hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Wells is a fan favourite in Canada’s West, and isn’t stopping there.

He’s been in good company, DJing together regularly with fellow Edmontonian Dane “Gretzky” MacDonald. Whether it’s faith in their respective programming choices or in the crowd being assured of a great party,They’ve become synonymous with good times and great music. These qualities are also at the heart of Danksoul Recordings, the label owned by Wells, MacDonald and Inkwell’s Ryan Trann. Inkwell’s “Kneesocks,” Danksoul’s inaugural release, has received excellent reviews since its release in late 2009/early 2010.
Look for Bron and Danksoul in your neck of the Great White North this summer.

Before leaving on vacation for a few days before going to Astropolis Festival where you will be able to find Jonas Sella from Input Selector mixing together with our friend Beaujean at the Astrococktail, I’ve done my small selection of a few perfect chillin tracks for the holidays!

A small tracklist with Hip Hop, Trip-Hop and Downtempo tracks which are mostly available for free on netlabels. Most of those artists are unknown but I urge you to check what they do!

Ayant grandi autour des artistes Tom et Leif, Steevio et Docteur Watson (Integrale), leurs sons ont beaucoup inspiré Joe qui n’a pas seulement copié leur patte musicale : il s’est mis petit à petit à la production.

Après avoir aidé Tom et Leif avec un remix de Minimono, paru sur Trimsound, pour Telegraph Records, son premier morceau a été Streetfight sur Trimsound (Trim004 B2). Il a ensuite signé sur Mindtours, sur le label suisse Floppy Funk, Alt Recordings, et a sorti des productions sous le projet Paper Scissor Stone avec son collègue Nick Dawson, un projet dédié au vinyle.

Alors que la production devient plus qu’une curiosité dû à l’effervescence de la house et de la techno, Joe préfère prendre le temps de choisir ses morceaux, et mixe avec Marcellus Pittman, Vakula, Fred P, Dj Qu, SE62, et également sur Uzuri records, alors que ses amis et producteurs locaux se retrouvent de plus en plus dans ses derniers sets.

Joe has been buying records and DJing for over 10 ten years, getting his first opportunities to play to a crowd on the illegal rave and free party scene of the late 90′s up on the hills and deep in the valleys of the welsh countryside, always striving to blend techno and house with a deeper funk, early inspirations were (and still are) Dan Bell, Moodymann, Jeff Mills, Mr G, John Ciafone, Chris Carrier, Soul Capsule, Stephen Brown and Ian Pooley, people who have always made timeless music and mixes, records that still stand up 10 years later and in a lot of cases remain the standard for todays house producers.

Growing up in and around such a vibrant scene getting to watch Tom and Leif, Steevio and the Doctor Watson (integrale) at work in the studio not only influenced Joe’s sound but also inspired him to have a fiddle round in the studio.

After helping Tom and Leif on the Trimsound remix of Minimono for Telegraph records, Joe’s first solo track showed up on the b2 on Trim04 – Streetfight. He has since gone on to get releases with Mindtours, a 12″ on Swiss label FloppyFunk, net releases with Alt recordings, Trimsound plus a full release on a collabrative project with friend and criminally underated talent Nick Dawson on PaperScissorStone. A project they hope to bring on to vinyl sometime soon.

Production has never been more than a curiosity with the wealth of top quality house and techno around to choose from at the moment Joe prefers to spend time hunting for records and mixing with Marcellus Pittman, Vakula, Fred P, Dj Qu, SE62, and Uzuri records, as well as the trusted local producers all featuring heavily in his more recent sets.

Les Kenton Slash Demon ont repris leur premier morceau live ‘Sun’ qu’ils ont joué pendant le Festival Distortion pour leur maxi ‘Schwarzschild Solution’ à venir!

Le duo house danois formé par Jonas Kenton et Silas Moldenhawer sont également la moitié du groupe pop When Saints Go Machine ; ils ont travaillé depuis plusieurs années sur leur projet électro et depuis 2007 ils sortent régulièremment des maxis sur des labels internationaux, parmi lesquels Ministry of Sound où l’on peut retrouver leur nom sur différentes compilations. En 2009 Kenton Slash Demon signe sur Tartelet Records. Leur premier maxi ‘Khattabi’ contient trois superbes morceaux avant-gardistes house et c’est à juste titre le nom du maxi qui a retenu l’attention de DJs tels DJ Koze, Luciano, Brodinski. Claude Von Stroke a adoré et le magazine De:Bug a même gratifié le duo de cette phrase : « Si vous pouvez imaginer la house music comme un opéra de free jazz indien, vous connaissez Kenton Slash Demon ».

Après une année riche en DJ sets dans le monde entier et beaucoup de nuits passées en studio, Kenton Slash Demon sont de retour avec ‘Schwarzschild Solution’, le nom faisant référence au physicien Karl Schwarzschild et sa théorie à propos des trous noirs fixes situés dans l’univers.

Le maxi ‘Sun’ sortira le 26 juillet sur Tartelet Records et contient un remix du titre éponyme par Bodycode, alias Portable (Perlon, Ghostly International). Les autres maxis ‘Matter’ et ‘Daemon’ sortirons en octobre et janvier 2010, offrant de très bons vocaux. Le son Kenton Slash Demon est combiné d’une house classique, quelque peu organique, à une house futuristique, leur talent en production inégalé. Avec des sonorités aquatiques, des basslines puissantes et des breaks intéressants, ils réussissent à créer une structure intelligente de musique électronique qui va bien au-delà de celle d’une ambiance sur un dance floor.

dOP, Catz N’ Dogz et Tiefschwarz ont déjà montré pendant leurs live à quel points ils adorent ‘Sun’, même avant que le maxi ne sorte, et le magazine Electronic Beats a plébiscité le duo au rang des « artistes à suivre ». De plus, les garçons ont récemment fait une toute première séance live qui a été gratifiée de six étoiles sur six par le magazine danois Soundvenue.

Gardez donc un oeil sur Kenton Slash Demon, cela montre bien qu’ils sont au sommet de leur forme.

Kenton Slash Demon makes their live debut during Distortion Festival and first single ‘SUN’ from their EP trilogy ‘Schwarzschild Solution’ is on its way!

The Danish house duo Kenton Slash Demon is comprised of Jonas Kenton and Silas Moldenhawer, two young gentlemen who also form half of the rising indietronic pop band When Saints go Machine. They’ve been working on their electronic side project for a number of years and, since 2007, they’ve released music on numerous international labels and contributed to the revered Ministry of Sound compilations. In 2009, Kenton Slash Demon signed with Tartelet Records. Their Debut EP ‘Khattabi’ contained three groundbreaking slices of forward-thinking house music and it was especially the title track ‘Kahattabi’ that garnered attention – heavyweights of the scene such as DJ Koze, Luciano, Brodinski and Claude von Stroke praised the track and the magazine De:Bug wrote the following about the duo’s unique sound: “If you can imagine house music as an indian free jazz opera, that’s Kenton Slash Demon”.

After a busy year with DJ sets all over the world and many nights spent in their studio, Kenton Slash Demon are back with an EP trilogy called ‘Schwarzschild Solution’, named after the German physicist Karl Schwarzschild’s theory about non-rotating black holes in the universe.

‘Sun’ EP will be released on July 26th on Tartelet records and includes a remix of the title track by Bodycode aka Portable (Perlon, Ghostly International). The subsequent EPs ‘Matter’ and ‘Daemon’, are released in October and January (2010), respectively, and they offer exciting guest vocals. The Kenton Slash Demon sound sidesteps the classic house formula as it combines the organic with the futuristic – their remarkable talent carry compositions and production much further than the classic 4/4 beat.With bubbling sound narratives, catchy basslines and interesting breaks they manage to create an intelligent structural take on electronic music that reaches far beyond the confines of the dance floor.

Acts like dOP, Catz N’ Dogz and Tiefschwarz are already expressing their love for ‘SUN’ before its release and the magazine Electronic Beats have just put Kenton Slash Demon on their ‘ ones towatch’ list. Furthermore, the boys have recently made their first live performance debut that received a six out of six star review by Danish music magazine Soundvenue. On l’avait découvert avec son EP Pins & Needles sur Fondation et il nous offre aujourd’hui un podcast savamment orchestré. Depuis sa signature chez Fondation, Paul Loraine a parcouru un beau parcours avec des signatures sur des labels de prestige tels que Soma ou encore Four:Twenty. Dj émérite et producteur raffiné, la superbe intro de ce set (reprise du track Thanks For Coming Out de The Mole), a été réalisé à l’occasion par ses soins.

We had discovered him with his Pins & Needles EP on Fondation, and he delivers us today a great podcast. Since his partnership with Fondation Paul Loraine has made a good work on such good labels from the like of Soma or Four:Twenty. Skilled DJ and gifted producer, he gave with the great intro of this set such a good work (taken from Thanks For Coming Out by The Mole).

Nils Penner, du puissant duo Penner+Muder, travaille seul à l’occasion de la cinquième sortie du label Wazi Wazi. Et 5 est un chiffre magique alors que Nils prend un tournant groovy avec 3 bombes deep house.

‘Homage’ est le morceau éponyme à l’esprit Detroit, avec ces petites touches vocales et ce piano posé rythmés par les percussions vibrantes de Penner, donnant un nouveau souffle pour les danseurs collés au dancefloor, que ça soit au début d’une soirée, au milieu ou lors d’after-hours.

‘Loud And Quiet’ est travaillé dans le même étau, un mélange de sucré salé, de simplicité et de complexité. Les notes, les basses et les beats sont les éléments principaux et même si cette formule semble la plus basique au monde, les voix et caisses claires sont de petites étincelles qui illuminent le morceau d’un groove imparable.

Le maxi se termine avec ‘You Need To Know’, chevauchée qui s’apparenterait à une visite dominicale dans une église, en communion avec les esprits. On peut reconnaître la voix de Bobby Konders dans ce dernier morceau, qui finalise avec beauté cet excellent maxi de Nils Penner.

Nils Penner from power duo Penner+Muder is going solo on the 5th release on Wazi Wazi. And 5 is the magic number as Nils turns into a serious groove mode with 3 explosively deep House monsters.

Homage takes a nod towards Detroit with its nagging vocal bits and damn cool piano with the jacking Penner drums giving a nice bump on the floor, be it then early, peak or late hours.

Loud And Quiet continues the journey of sweet and sour, complexity and simplicity. Keys, beats and bass are the main ingredients and even if this formula is well known, the magic sprinkles of vocals and scattered claps
turns this into a Chitown groover.

The EP ends up with You Need To Know, a mellow ride on the F-train to Coney Island Methodist Church on a sunday morning full of mist and high spirits. Echoes of Bobby Konders can be heard on this beautiful piece to end another excellent EP from Nils Penner.

Pour la troisième fois sur la collection non-moins acclamée des Various Artists, Ali et Basti ont trouvé des perles rares parmi les démos toutes fraîches de leur entourage proche de Berlin: Ruede Hagelstein et Re.You. C’est non sans surprise que le label Souvenir accueille cette 28ème sortie, agrémentée d’une énergie salvatrice qui rappelle l’ambiance électrique des soirées berlinoises.

Ruede Hagelstein n’est pas très productif car il aime prendre le temps et faire attention à chaque détail de ses morceaux. Heureusement il apporte souvent ses créations à Souvenir, tel le morceau ‘Semikolon’ ou son dernier remix pour Elle P & Iftah … qui sont, sans le moindre doute, à l’avant-garde des classiques intemporels de Tiefschwarz, au sein de leurs sets.

La piste A du Souvenir 028 est donc confiée à Ruede, qui nous montre une fois de plus avec ‘Emergency’ sa connaissance du domaine post-club. Parfait à écouter dès la matinée, comme si le soleil se levait au rythme des bongos, petit côté expérimental avec les paroles : comme si les danseurs d’un club se réveillaient sous le bruit des trompettes. C’est LA marque de fabrique de Ruede. ‘Friday’, dans la même dimension, est mené par des percussions sur un beat jazzy, comme si l’image d’un corridor sombre avec des chauve-souris nous venait à l’esprit … Terrible !

Re.You, frère de l’artiste Santé (qui a également signé sur Souvenir), que nous avons déjà entendu sur le 4ème Souvenir avec le titre ‘Lumo’, prouve que dans la Famille Maier le talent est présent. ‘Périlleux’, track hypnotique, est le nom auquel nous pensons lorsque nous écoutons les premières secondes du track. La mélodie portée par les notes de synthé, les percussions vibrants parmi les bruits symbolise un côté deep lanscinant. ‘Périlleux’ est parfait pour faire monter la pression et dynamiser une foule en délire.

‘This Way’ est centré sur un côté house bien particulier, où les paroles énergiques et le groove de la rythmique sont au rendez-vous de l’atmosphère frappante qui s’en dégage.
Adam Port s’est chargé de la partie digitale du maxi : en remixant ‘This Way’, il y apporte une touche beaucoup plus prenante, et perpétue la diversité des talents qui ont déjà signé sur ce label qu’est Souvenir.

For the third instalment of the always-qualitative Various Artists collection, Ali and Basti have found some treasures among the freshest demos of their closest friends from Berlin, Ruede Hagelstein and Re.You. Not so surprisingly, this Souvenir N°28 has the creative energy and the diversity of a successful party weekend in the German Capital.

Ruede Hagelstein releases music infrequently, always taking his time to carefully craft each of his productions. Fortunately, he often brings his creations to Souvenir with tracks like “Semikolon” or his latest remix for elle p & iftah…which are certainly at the forefront of all-time classics of Tiefschwarz sets.

In charge of the A-side of Souvenir 028, Ruede shows once again with “Emergency” that he knows how to treat an after-party stomper. Perfect early morning pick, the sun shines on his bongos, the nonsense raves with his lyrics, the horns roar with delight, and a plane flies over a crowd of happy, sleepless dancers. Damn…Ruede made it again! Equally dodgy and uplifting, “Friday” is led by the jazzy beat of the drums to a dark alley, where guys with bats wait to give a beat down… Ouch!

Re.You, brother to Santé, had his first entry on the label with “Lumo” on Souvenir+4. With these first two tracks released on vinyl, Re.You proves that there are two growing talents in the Maier Family. With “Périlleux” hypnotic is certainly the first word that comes to mind. Its melody of synth-notes, intoxicated by rolling drums and concrete noises twirls deep in your head. Dizzying enough to hurl any floor into a gas-pedal dancing euphoria. “This Way” on the other hand, is a rhythmically-centered house number. Catchy grooves and ernergizing lyrics are at the rendezvous to keep the party going on.

Guest remixer for the extended digital side of the EP, Adam Port, continues to show the Souvenir diversity of skills, and delivers a highly devastating peak-time remix for “This Way.”

Le label parisien Silicate nous offre le premier album de Pit Spector, Télescope, un album beau et étrange à la fois, une composition personnelle entre IDM, micro-house et down tempo, le tout accommodé à la fameuse sauce dub dont l’artiste détient le secret.

Variant les focales et les genres, Télescope explore le monde sonore et poétique de Pit Spector, qui collabore pour l’occasion avec le rappeur The Pretender, et les chanteuses Ava et Lippie.

Télescope propose aussi trois zooms à différentes échelles, trois remixes de morceaux de l’album par des artistes inattendus :

Cabanne, boss du label Minibar, dont on ne compte plus les sorties remarquées sur des labels prestigieux (Perlon, Karat, Hello? Repeat, 7th city…), façonne admirablement “Cloche” pour en puiser l’essence du groove.

Ditch, producteur phare de la micro-house et de la techno expérimentale japonaise, qui a fait ses preuves sur des labels tels que OP.disc, Minibar ou encore Kalimari, nous livre un remix minimal des plus singuliers.

Modelitszt enfin, artiste Silicate, spécialiste maison du dubstep, propose sa version de “Demo st”: un travail musical, accoustique et profond.

Pit Spector a débuté la musique par le piano et la guitare, participant à des groupes de Reggae et de Jazz avant de tomber dans la grande marmite électronique, bercé par les comptines distordues de son grand frère Ark qui lui prêta un sampler en guise de hochet et un album d’Herbert pour le goûter.

Depuis 2005, il participe au projet Antislash (Circus company / Karat etc) avec John Merrick et Charlie Not Fonk. Il est également actif dans le projet Ava’s Verden, dans une ambiance plus théatrale et colorée, influencée par les Rita Mitsouko, Herbert et Steve Reich, et plus récemment dans le projet franco-allemand “cellule eat” avec Tilman et Grifin’ (vinyle à venir en juillet sur Minibar).

Silicate gives a limited release of the first LP by Pit Spector, Telescope, a personnal work between IDM, micro-house and down tempo, in the famous and very personnal dubby way of the artist.

Shifting scales and kinds, Telescope goes throught Pit Spector’s deep and poetical world ouf sound. Special guests are invited this time: The Pretender for his freestyle lyrics and the charming female voices of Ava and Lippie.

Pit Spector started composing music in reggae and jazz bands, playing guitar and piano. He shortly discovered electronic music, following his bro steps’, Ark who gave him a sampler in one hand, a Herbert record in the other. Fascinated by this kind of composing, he founded Antislash together with John Merrick and Charlie Not Fonk. The groupe is performing extremely punchy and improvised livesets accross Europe. Pit Spector also writes music and sounds for Ava’s Verden, a more theatrical and noisy show, influenced by Rita Mitsouko, Herbert and Steve Reich. He’s also taking part into the “Cellule eat” project with Tilman and Grifin’ (upcomming EP in July on Minibar).

En ajoutant un grain d’expérimental et une touche percussive à la classe dominante des pionniers de la post-dubstep, Mount Kimbie, duo composé de Dominic Maker et Kai Campos, vont sortir leur tout premier album « Crooks & Lovers » sur le label Hotflush en juillet, album très attendu.

Dom et Kai se sont rencontrés à l’Université de Southbank, dans le même hall d’étudiants qui étaient, avant, un asile de fous – où les cellules gigantesques ne trahissaient aucun calme parmi les détenus, pas même le moindre écho d’un stylo jeté par terre se perdant indéfiniment dans le silence.

Les premiers maxis de Mount Kimbie « Maybes » et « Sketch On Glass » ressemblent à des explorations spatiales intimistes qui se révèlent, une fois immergé dans le son, totalement voyeuristes. L’expérience sonore, surprenante, n’est pas que sonore justement, elle s’impose comme un maillon supplémentaire à tout ce qui peut se rapporter à de possibles tergiversations d’un esprit solitaire. Un esprit qui se retrouve soudainement à la portée de millions d’autres.

Difficile à identifier, les maxis du label cause de sévères troubles notamment grâce à « Sketch On Glass » qui a été retravaillé l’année dernière par Falty DL, SCB (le surnom dark techno de Scuba) et James Blake. Avec leurs propres remixes (Foals et The XX), Mount Kimbie est vite monté en grade parmi la population électro londonienne, souvent associé à des labels tels que Hyperdub ou encore Hessle Audio.

Armés de sonorités ambiantes décadentes et d’une mentalité de fer, Kai et Dom transforment les atmosphères de Londres en un rythme, le chaos prenant une cohérence particulière. Les influences se retrouvent dans les ambiances des tracks de Burial ou de The Bug, on peut aussi penser au mélodrame ambiant de Xiu Xiu et à la tristesse spectrale de Grouper. On pense également à D’Angelo et son âme pervertie, lavée par les « Microphones » de Phil Elvrum, ou à la rencontre de Madlib et Angelo Badalamenti avec son track tout doux « Twin Peaks ».

Les sonorités du duo, en réponse au dubstep contemporain, est tout à fait dans leurs cordes. Indéfinissable, improbable, nu de toutes étiquettes et autres codes, « Crooks & Lovers » oscille entre dubstep et hip-hop, jazz et techno, ambient et post-rock, UK garage et bande-annonces…

Adding a percussive and experimental edge to the current class of post-dubstep pioneers, Mount Kimbie, the duo of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos – are set to release their highly anticipated debut album ‘Crooks & Lovers’ on Hotflush in July.

Dom and Kai met whilst at Southbank University, pushed together in a student halls that was previously a mental asylum – where the ceilings were still ridiculously high to stop patients hanging themselves:“a cold, joyless, concrete building – the sort of building where you’d drop a pen and the sound would just go on and on in an echo.”

Mount Kimbie’s first two EPs – ‘Maybes’ and ‘Sketch On Glass’ – seemed like explorations of spaces so private that all within earshot were instantly turned into voyeurs.The experience was less like listening to music and more like eavesdropping on the machinations of a lone mind – albeit a lone mind surrounded by and retreating from millions of other minds.

Difficult to categorise, the lush EPs caused a commotion when released last year with ‘Sketch On Glass’ recently undergoing reworks from the likes of Falty DL, SCB (Scuba’s darker techno alias) and their sometime collaborator James Blake.With their own remixes (Foals and The xx) becoming hot property, Mount Kimbie have been a core part of the growing scene in London often associated with labels like Hyperdub and Hessle Audio.

Armed with found sound snips and a siege mentality, Kai and Dom set about turning London’s ambience into rhythm, its chaos into coherence.Traces of influence remain – the hard-earned spaces of Burial and The Bug vie with the berserk melodrama of Xiu Xiu and Grouper’s sad-eyed glow, D’Angelo’s pervert soul gets cleansed in the intimacy of Phil Elvrum’s Microphones,Angelo Badalamenti’s swollen ‘Twin Peaks’ atmospheres find a cradle in Madlib’s lax lope.

The band’s sound and response to the dubstep moment is very much their own. Sceneless and untethered from etiquette and genre codes, Crooks & Lovers floats through dubstep and hip-hop, jazz, techno and ambient, post-rock, UK garage and film scores to startling effect.

Coté production, attiré par les textures sonores puissantes et profondes, elles sont souvent les bases préparatoires de son travail, agissant comme stimulus créatif, pour donner une musique brut et instinctive.

Le troisième opus de la nouvelle collection Masomenos nous est fourni par Seuil, et son premier album ‘Chamaeleonidae’, un voyage instrumental libertaire idéal à écouter à tout moments de la journée.

‘Chamaeleonidae’ signifie littérallement Caméléon, un nom qui suggère transformation et déguisement au fil des différents chemins emprunté par l’artiste. Seuil a, en effet intégré à merveille les grooves downtempo et ambiances jazzy dans son premier album et on se retrouve très tôt submergé par des vaguess de flute, cuivres ou d’orchestre live, le tout racontant une histoire optimiste à coup de rythmes compliqués et de sons imaginatifs.

C’est un mélange permanent entre nappes féériques (Interlune), rythmes du monde (Together) et parties instrumentales improvisées (Saxy Back) donnant à ‘Chamaeleonidae’ cette substance de liberté si propre au chef d’oeuvre contemporain de Laurent Garnier ‘The Man With The Red Face’ tout en restant tout autant fermement connecté au dancefloor.

Seuil a interpreté son style musical différemment pour ce projet, précédemment plus proche des productions dansantes et saccadées. En tant que relatif nouveau venu sur la scène electronique, Seuil a imposé son style depuis son entrée fracassante en 2006 avec des sorties sur Freak n’Chic, Moon Harbour et Raum…Musik ainsi que des collaborations avec le duo parisien Masomenos, conduisant à leurs album ‘Chamaeleonidae’ à ce jour, comme partie intégrante des séries ‘Costes Présente’. The third opus in the new Masomenos collection comes from Seuil with his debut artist album, ‘Chamaeleonidae’, a freethinking instrument led musical journey ideal for anytime listening.

‘Chamaeleonidae’ directly translates to Chameleon and as its name suggests disguises and transforms many musical avenues across its path. Overflowing with the contemporary sounds of flutes, horns and live orchestral music, Seuil has embedded downtempo grooves and jazz enthused atmospheres into his first album, telling an optimistic story within its complex rhythms and imaginative sounds.

A continuous mix that touches on lushous pads (Interlune), other worldly effects (Together) and improvised instrumentals (Saxy Back), ‘Chamaeleonidae’ at times brings comparisons with the freedom of the contemporary masterpiece, Laurent Garnier’s ‘The Man With The Red Face’, while still remains firmly connected with the dancefloor.

Seuil has interpreted his musical style differently for this project, previously familiar for more stripped back, dancefloor orientated productions, ‘Chamaeleonidae’ is delivered on the cusp of a new and undivided frontier for dance music, attentive to a variety of styles and influences. A relative newcomer to the world of music production, Seuil has firmly embedded his mark since his introduction in 2006 with strong releases on Freak n’Chic, Moon Harbour and raum..musik and recent collaborations with Parisian duo Masomenos, leading to the release of ‘Chamaeleonidae’ on their label as part of the ‘Costes présente’ series. The previous episodes ‘Bon Vovage’ and ‘The Third Eye’ aimed to deliver a groovy and warm sound with wider appeal than their regular techno audience.

Seuil comes from the Reunion Island, a French territory where he discovered many early joys of music until he escaped for bigger adventures in the bright lights of Paris at the age of 18. Armed with a wide range of classical music skills such as 10 years experience of playing piano, jazz and blues formation, as well as percussion, giving him a good grounding for his foray into work on electronic music composition.

The two different sides to Seuil’s music encompass dark and rolling techno alongside modern shaking house, always displaying the same groovy essence, heavy bass lines and an obscure collage of sounds. His remixes have graced labels including murmur, Adjunct, Leftroom, Rrygular, Stock 5, and he launched his own label in 2007, Eklo, delivering material from artists like Lauhaus, Jorge Savoretti, Heartthrob, Cabanne, Miss Fitz, Kate Simko, Ryan Crosson, Lee Curtiss and his own creations. Seuil has also produced an astounding live performance, always keen to be involved in more creative activity.
